Project Details – Example

This outline should help you prepare for your web design project and ensure important information is communicated with your developer:

Contact Information:

Project Contacts: Who will be the contact for the project within your organization? – daytime phone and email are both important.  If multiple people will be included throughout the development process, each should be listed with contact information.

Company Contact Information: Include all information – address, phone, fax, email and anything else.

Understanding Your Business:

Mission/Vision:

Services/Products/Purpose:

Key Audiences: Who will use the site?

Competition: Include any competitors or similar groups.  Could also include organizations with similar audience, but offering different service/product.

Keywords: What do you think users would type into a search engine to find your business?  These will be used as a starting point and helps insure we don’t miss something that may be more obvious from your perspective.

Understanding Your Project:

What is the role of the website?

What are the end goals desired (measures of success)? EXAMPLES:  Public awareness,  website traffic, customer/client inquires, sales, other

Domain Needs: Do you need a domain for this site? If not, what domain will be used?

Do you need hosting for this site? Any specific size or needs should also be included.  If not, where will the site be located?

Website updating needs: How often will you need to update the content?  (monthly newsletters, new promotions, latest event images)  Do you desire to complete these updates yourself?

Needed Features or Functionality:

Project Size: How many pages or how large the site will be.

Project budget:

Time frame: Include key dates – propose a projected completion or other constraints.

Copyright or Ownership Requirements:

Technical Requirements:

Do you have existing company/organization graphic standards? If specific colors, fonts, or styles need to be used or followed – include those details or attach the needed documents.

Website Content:

Do you have an existing logo? A high resolution or vector version should be provided as soon as possible in the project.  If your company/organization does not have a logo, would you like one developed?

Do you know what sections/pages will be needed for the site?

Do you have existing photography, video, or other content to include?

Response Form Content: List any information that you may want included for a contact form.  Example: Name, Email, Phone, Comments.
